Roubenka U Babi
History of the building
The timbered cottage is a historically valuable baroque timbered homestead, estimated to be 200-250 years old. It is located in the Aš region in the Cheb district. The homestead was in disrepair since the 1950s and, according to witnesses, was even designated for demolition. Later, the homestead was used for breeding small farm animals. The original homestead was reconstructed and rebuilt into a guesthouse in 2015. Three separate authentic rooms and a common room were created in the former stable. A private wellness area with a sauna and a hot tub was built in the former barn. During the reconstruction, we tried to restore this unique example of rural folk architecture to its most authentic form possible. For this purpose, for example, we used hand-hewn beams, which are assembled using a traditional technique called 'dovetail joint'. The atmosphere is also enhanced by the combination of period paint colors. With respect for the historical character of the building, we also tried to achieve maximum comfort for modern users.
